CHICAGO (CBS) ? A 5-year-old girl jumping on a bed was injured by a bullet early Saturday when a gun beneath the mattress went off, police said.
The incident occurred at about 12:22 a.m. Saturday at a Marquette Park residence in the 6400 block of South Artesian, police news affairs told CBS 2. The child was jumping on a bed when a weapon discharged, apparently from underneath the mattress.
The girl sustained a wound to the ankle, police said. She was taken to Comer Children?s Hospital, the Chicago Fire Department said. No condition report was available, but it was presumed the injury was of a non-life-threatening nature
