This is a TEST not a drill, so do not shot it more than than three times per day.

I enjoy doing this test. From my 6280, I can run it anywhere from 4.6-4.8 clean, 8 out of 10 times. From my comp holster I only drop .1-.2 in time.

Is that a retention holster? if so how are you running your mag pouch, is it a button or flap?

Yes, the 6280 has the rotating hood. My mag pouch is a Safariland open top.

Well you would have to add .5 second to your time for it to count, but if you can run it in 4.8 your REALLY close to getting in to the Coin winner run times!!!
Im working with Todd now to get him here agin this next year Ill keep ya posted.

To count, the F.A.S.T. must be shot from concealment or from a recognized retention holster. Open-top retention holsters without concealment (e.g., Blackhawk SERPA, Safariland ALS) add an additional 0.50 to the shooter's time. Using both a standard duty retention holster (e.g., Safariland SLS, SSIII) as well as flap/retention magazine pouches will result in a 0.50 reduction in recorded time.

Hmm, I thought it was .5 seconds OFF the time when using a duty holster with retention and it doesn't say anything about using an open top mag pouch for added time. Either way, if it was added time for non flap mag pouch and minus time for duty holster, it should be evened out, so my time would be a raw time correct or is there some rules somewhere that isn't posted on his site? It would lead other shooters to think they are doing the drill correctly when they aren't?

You have to use BOTH a Retention holster and a Flap/retention mag pouch to get the .5 reduction in score. So from what I saw you post you would get .5 second added to the time. ( Retention Holster and open mag pouch) I highlighted above in red.

Just FYI the best way to "game it" is to shoot it from IDPA gear.

LOL, okay. Not arguing, but to be technical, there is nothing that states anything about open top MAG pouches adding .5 to time. It just states that to drop .5 it would require both. It's almost not fair doing it from IDPA gear..........

?? I concur open top mag pouches do not add time, shooting with a retention holster and no covering garment does, .5 second, To get the .5 reduced time you have to have both a retention holster and flap/retention mag pouch.

And if you can do it reliably in under 5 clean from any concealment, it puts you in the best of the shooters. I don't know of any, if only a few shooters that can walk up to a line and tell you these two will be under 5 clean..... Seeklander did not and he's one of the best shooters in the world.
That's one reason I run this test, It's Freaking HARD!!!

GO run it and post up your times!!!!!

LOL! That's better. All joking aside, it is a pretty hard test. I tried it AFTER taking AP1 twice and shot it clean maybe 4 out of 10 times clean. It definitely makes you use that front sight! I know I wouldn't be able to do it if I hadn't had as much training as I've had.

Spencer,

I messaged Todd and asked him about this because my mind got wondering while looking through my targets. Here is his response.

I've shot this test maybe 20 times in the past 2 years. I either forget to print out the targets or just forget about the test itself, usually the latter of the two. My best time clean so far was over a year ago, at a 4.6x and I usually average a 4.8x from duty gear. The last time I shot prior to this was at USSA's Pro Am on 12/11/11, so it's been almost a month since I've had trigger time.

I had a little free time before going off duty yesterday, so I went and shot this, and only got to do it once. It was shot from my duty rig, which consist of a Safariland 6004 SLS holster and Safariland 079 open top mag pouch. The weapon is a Glock 34, all stock internals and Sevigny Sights with tac light. I hadn't presented my weapon full speed from my duty holster in quite some time (I know, shame on me), so my support hand rode higher then usually, keeping the slide lock lever down, keeping the weapon from going into slide lock, forcing me to put the gun back into battery. Here are my times.

1.72
.5-----2.22
2.19---4.41
.33----4.74
.32----5.06
.32----5.38

I estimate I lost anywhere from .4-.6 from having to feed a round, as my reloads usually run 1.5x-1.7x. No excuses though, my own fault for not keeping up with non live fire practice :P Here is a vid. Oh, and I know, I forgot to put my eyes on.
