just got my taurus 1911 from tom . very nice gun , esp for the money . only thing i dont like is crapy mags.

I've had my pt1911 for 5months. Never had a problem with the Taurus mags. Now the Wilson 10rd... That's a different story

Does it have the ambi safety? I've heard those are a nightmare.

I have shot mine for almost a year with several, several thousand rounds down the barrel. Had to tweak the extractor a little. Other than that, its been a good gun. Factory mags had to go.
