Purpose: To teach an individual what is needed to save someone from blunt and penetrating trauma.
Length (Days): 1

This one day course is a highly customized hybrid of numberous trauma programs (advanced trauma life support, tactical combat casualty care, pre-hosptial trauma life support, basic trauma life support) designed to give you, individually, what you need to save someone "if" they can be saved from blunt and penetrating trauma associated with lethal force encounters.

All students will participate in lecture, skills training, and scenarios. This course does not include any firearms training. A few elements covered in this class:

Airway Management
Treating Respiratory Emergency
Controlling Hemorrhage
Improvised Medical Devises
Survival Psychology

This course is a great start for anyone, even people with no medical training, who want to know what they can do to treat themselves or a loved injured in a lethal force encounter. It will provide a foundation to build from as more advanced tactical medical courses are offered.

June 9th, ladies and gents.

Everyone on this board needs a class like this, whether you are a competitor or carry for preservation-of-life purposes. The skills in this class will allow you intervene when bad stuff turns worse or when a fun day at the range takes a bad turn. Who knows? The life you save could be...mine! I hope to see some BSers out there for this.

I just took a class like this at work that was taught by the FBI SWAT doctors and medics. They brought in their manniquin's from Quantico and supplied the kits needed. This is excellent training for people who participate in our sports. I hope I never need to put the training to use, but it's nice to know that I could help if needed. My Downed Operator Kit is a permanent addition to my range bag these days.

If you can take this training, do it!

They held one on June 9th.

The next one on the schedule is going to be the first weekend in September in OKC. Stay tuned. I'm sure that tacmedic will be putting something out with details soon.
