All the relatives, and friends are getting their freezers stocked. Its been a heck of a spring for fishing. Just the crappie in the pics.

Probably caught 300# of bluecats.










Don't have pics of the ones I caught today. Caught 25, kept 6.

White bass done running?
Caught one in the creeks that are normally full of them. Pretty sure they spawned in the river instead of running the creeks. I'm hearing reports of sand bass being caught in the main lake around their summer habitat. I'll wait until next week to find out.
You won't catch me anywhere near a lake with the amateur weekend going on.

I know Cats have been biting real good here lately. And it has been years since I have been bass fishing so I can't tell ya how they are bitting.

"White bass done running?"

There is some discussion about if there ever was a sand bass run.
Went out Friday morning early and couldn't buy a crappie bite, so went on the hunt for sand bass. Found a school in 20 FOW mixed with shad, so threw out a bouy, and started vertical jigging them with slabs.
Ended up keeping 23. The string weighed 27 lbs.
A couple of game rangers pulled up to watch the action, both of them I know well. It finally slowed down, so we started talking about the sand bass run, as I noticed some that were caught were females and full of eggs.
The GW 's said they didn't see many caught this spring in the creeks, or up in the river. Why they didn't run is anybody's guess. View attachment 7211

I guess its summer fishing time now. Went out this morning and caught 6 crappie, and 6 sand bass. Kind of slow with the Ks. Flood water getting here.
