I drew the rail, working on my own barrel nut / attachment system. 16" lightweight middy barrel.

Carbon fiber VTAC style rail that I modified, 14.5" middy barrel.

Those handguards look nice!!! Solidworks was a fun program until I used it for a living. work = no fun

Have you checked out the new carbon fiber free float tubes from www.carbonarms.us?

We talked about offsets on the other forum and he drew some very basic ones up, that would be great for a scoped gun. They are actualy on the model he posted pics of, you just can't see them well cause of which side you are seeing.

Yeah Jesse, I saw that link. Pretty sweet.

The CF handguard up there is just the VTAC modified some, so it would fit a VTAC barrel nut.

The one thing I keep seeing with the offset sights, is they all have the full A2 style adjustment, except for the JP offsets, but then you have a teensy sight radius. Plus, who wants to spend $238 for a set of backup sights, that you *hope* you'll never use?

So my idea was use 45* offsets, but dirt simple post and groove type sights, rather than the full on A2 setup. I'll post some screen shots of the rough idea later.

I like the idea of a true back up sight. Not like the folding $80+ a pair stuff guys put on their rifles nowadays. Those nevr get used unless you forget to bring extra batteries for your eotech. All they end up doing is adding weight and cool factor. A hasty lightweight oh elephant dung sight would be great. I think you could sell those in the LE/MIL sector if the price was right and design was solid.

Exactly

I could do that, but it would be the rear built into the mount, with the front like it is. However, I think this would ultimately be cheaper to start up, as you would have to offer it for the T1, 30mm single mount for Aimpoint/ACOGs, and dual 30mm for scopes.

Here's a couple more.

I tried the Deuck/Surefire sights on my 3 gun rifle for a bit but they werent a fit for me in that application. I didnt really see any scenarios where it would be faster in a race application (for me vs my accupoint 1x4). Had a small problem getting them zeroed that was actually related to my gas block, not the sights. The are very high quality and were well made.

The guy that bought them was putting them on a scoped (higher magnification) AR, now in that application they would probably be great. They are well made and look exactly like what you are used to seeing irons look like. For me they just ended up being extra weight.
