SODIS (Solar Water Disinfection)

I read about this in a special edition National Geographic. I'd never heard of it before and was intrigued by its simplicity and effectiveness. It's called SODIS, which is an abbreviation of Solar Water Disinfection. All that's required to obtain safe drinking water is contaminated non-turbid water, a transparent glass or PET bottle and 6 hours of sunlight. A PET bottle is one of those cheap crystal clear bottles you get store bought water in. See links below for detailed information and a FAQ:
