Went up to Silverleaf the other weekend with some friends. Had a great round of sporting clays, sure it's a little expensive but they have alot invested and that is not the point here anyways. I didn't see it myself but on the way home my buddy commented on how strange it was that they had a sign declaring "no open or concealed carry" has anyone else ever seen this? I am having a hard time believing that they would have a policy like that.

I certainly carried the last time I shot there. Of course my buddy almost got sent home because his eye protection was on top of his head when he was standing in the cart path before we ever left the staging area.

Concealed is concealed.

Except when you wear a Serpa holster with your shirt pulled over it. Saw that yesterday, No friggin way I would consider that concealed.

Since the TDSA AP1 class, every time that I hear or read about a Serpa holster, I instantly think of Marshall starting off our class..."Does anybody have a Blackhawk Serpa Holster?" some dude raises his hand, Marshall points at him and says "you're gay!"

But as to the OP, I can't say that I remember seeing the sign but it does seem odd that they would have that policy being a gun range.

I'm guessing that's for insurance purposes. That's why they only let you do a lot of stupid things we wouldn't do on our own range.

Are there any insurance pros out there that can provide some input? I didn't think that an insurance company could penalize a company based on whether or not they have a no concealed carry sign. As far as the concealed being concealed thing goes I think we are all on the same page but it sure makes it hard to support a company like that.

They wouldn't let me drive around with my shotguns in my ranger anyway but muzzle up and quoted their insurance policy as the reason.

Cold range maybe? I have often wondered about this during shooting competitions, since most declare that they are a cold range, if I am not using my carry gun in the competition, can I still wear it?

No, can't wear a hot weapon except after make ready & until show clear

So then why does everyone not want to ban matches because you cant carry there either. You still have your guns, shotgun or pistols...

You're not being disarmed only unloaded. If the elephant dung goes down & you need your gun, load up.
