Well purchased the new Savage Model 42 Combo gun (410 / 22) recently. Ordered it through a local gun shop (Palmetto Distributors) as no one had one on the rack. I was unhappy with the sights so I upgraded the basic sight by adding a Picatinny rail and a Shotgun Scope (Bushnell 1X4 scope). 22 is a longtime favorite caliber of mine so I am well setup for shooting such. However 410 is new caliber (gauge) for me and of this I had no reserves. I am mulling over the thoughts of adding a shotshell reloading station to my existing reloading kit but have little experience with shotshell reloading. Frankly never really saw this as a need as shotshells, 12ga. was always available and cheap. Not so 410. It?s a scarcer beast. I was thinking a MEC 600 Jr. unit maybe off Ebay or something. What do y?all think about this idea? :D

I ended up buying a new MEC press but you can often find a deal on a used one, although you might have a hard time finding a used .410 press.

I started reloading 12 ga shells. I don't think I save as much reloading shotshells as I do with metallics. You might want to price the components and try to estimate how much you would save before buying equipment.
