Shooting gloves

I've honestly never used any. Are they helpful, not helpful?

LEO and Military guys often wear gloves (and they will typically be full fingered)
Other than that, it's rare to see shooters in gloves more than once.

There are exceptions I suppose...winter trap or skeet, hunting, etc...

I hunt with full fingered gloves. This past writer I use the mechanix wear gloves since it was so warm and nothing extra was needed.

I just wondered if it would help maintain a more firm purchase. I have aggressive VZ grips on my 1911, so it's not a real issue on that one.

I shot in a rifle training last summer, from 2pm on with the ambient temp 105 f, the gun was so darn hot I could not hold it for accurate aiming. Even covered to keep sun off it was still to hot to handle.
There is a pair of gloves in my bag at all times now.

I don't think I could wear gloves because it would negatively effect my grip. Some Mr. T fingers less gloves would look pretty badass though.

As a hunter, I wear gloves alot in the winter.
My AR'S have the oversized trigger guards.
I haven't tried the mechanicx, but just use the brown jersey gloves that are 10 pairs for $5 until it gets to freezing. When it gets real cold, like 25 below on an elk hunt, I use a glove that is a combination mitten, and half finger glove. See something that needs to die, flip the mitten part back and you have a bare finger on the trigger.
