I am wanting to send my shotgun off to have the port opened up. I have never actually shipped a firearm, can anyone give me insights on what I need to do?

talk to the person or shop you are sending it to. everything else is just noise.

Put it in a box, insure it if you must, use fedex or ups. You'll have to drop it at the local hub or have a driver pickupor have an FFL ship it. Can't use a ups store or anything like that.
You'll need to include s copy of your drivers license in the box along with a copy of the receiving FFL.
