So what is the weight savings on a shield vs its compact cousin in the m&p line? I am wanting something quite a bit lighter in the summer, my 9c is not THAT heavy, but it's noticeable and getting a belt that is just right without giving me hip dysplasia or just falling off is a challenge. Should I sell the compact, get the shield, especially if I plan on getting a pro at some point anyway? Or just keep it, wait until I can get the shield on my own funding and go from there?

Mine feels heavy. I've falling in love with my G42. It's dinrnsions and weight carry like it's not there.

Yeah, I like my wife's, but I have had a few problems handling it, I keep thinking I actuate the slide lock occasionally when I shoot it, but then I make sure to really keep clear of it and it will still do it every once in a while, don't know if its just a loose spring or what. I know some folks have had a lot of trouble with 100gr through it.

My LC9s is the next lightest, then the Shield .40 and then my Glock 26. Anything heavier then the LC9 pulls my pants down. But I don't have nice hips to hold them up either. :(

A good belt will do wonders for you.
I carry a 5" M&P9Pro on occasion in the winter months and don't have issues with weight. My belt is a Looper Leather with kydex insert, I highly recommend it.

Using the same belt with a Kahr CW9, I sometimes forget I'm carrying.

Holster is very important too, I use Crossbreed clone holsters made by Foxx.

What position? At the position I carry, if my gun where any longer on the slide, I wouldnt be able to sit, and any longer on the grip and it would look like I have a small plank of wood stabbed into my back.
