Sheriffs in S C ? Pro second

Just curious if anybody has any information on the sheriffs throughout South Carolina. I know this might vary from county to county, are there any people here that have any knowledge about the sheriffs in your county if they are pro-Second Amendment friendly and believe in the Constitution. I know this can vary from sheriff to sheriff , just looking for people's experiences talking to them. I have one experience talking to one sheriff and was pro-Second Amendment.

The easiest way to find out if a Sheriff is pro-Second Amendment is to do a Google search for news articles for that county and see if anyone has been arrested for any weapons violations during his tenure.

If they have, then he isn't.

That is not correct. The Charleston County Sheriff's Department enforces unconstitutional, anti-weapon laws all the times.

The Mayors of Sumter, Columbia, and Charleston are all part of Bloomberg's "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" gun control group.

Their appointed police chiefs are likely not paragons of pro-2A sentiment.

Everyone I've heard about are very Pro 2nd AM. I think there may be one or two more libtard sheriffs out there. But, I think as a whole the SC Sheriffs Association came out Pro 2nd AM and sent a statement to DC saying they will refuse to participate in any unconstitutional laws that may come out of DC.

Or the Mayor in question committed a serious crime and has been purged from the MAIG rolls. They seem to scratch a few mayors off the list every week or so for various offenses.

Do these mayors actually know that they are members of MAIG.

One defector states that he simply signed a petition against gun violence and didn't even know that he was made a member. He says.

McElveen in Sumter does, and he's hard core. McElveen, among other things, thinks there should be a blanket ban on civilian ownership of anything more than 2 rounds capacity... Except for himself, because he owns a few handguns. He's one of the animals that are More Equal Than Others. And his police department -- he has said they need standard mags, ARs, an armored vehicle on call (like RIchland County's APC), etc. McElveen thinks my wife should do hard time in prison for teaching a home firearms safety class and letting a student work the action on a bolt gun.

You should correspond with your local elected official and see if they know what they're signed up for. Most of them are cool with it. They want you in prison or face down in a ditch when it comes down to it. The sheriffs they appoint will likely act accordingly if given the right authority.

Not to be nitpicky, but Sheriffs are elected by the people and police chiefs are appointed. Big difference when it comes to sources of power and how they respond to political influence.

Mmm, good point. The mayor-police chief dynamic is definitely different than the sheriff's autonomy. Sheriffs have more independence as you pointed out.
