My question is, is it okay to mount a one-piece cantilever scope mount partially on the upper receiver and partially on the handguard to get it far enough forward? If the handguard has a Picatinny rail? I would think it is not as stable. Anyone have any experience here?

I wouldn't do it if you planned to shoot any real type of precision stuff. I'd be worried about movement between the two components.

You're best bet is to get a Vortex ADR-X 3" offset mount. I believe the are a rebranded American Defense AD Recon X Mount.

If you order thru Optics planet TISC556 gets you 5% off.

Here is the American Defense mount.

Then you have the LaRue SPR-E LT139 as well.

Thanks Jesse. I figured the handguard will flex and throw the scope off. I was just hoping someone would say, "should work just fine."
Ha!
