I recently got an S&W M&P .22 Pistol and have a little over 1000 rounds through it. Here are my thoughts so far.
The biggest drawback has to be the magazine, it is a single stack super thin tube with an M&P floor plate. A plastic sleeve to go around the magazine itself would have been nice. The pistol itself however is a Walther .22 with an M&P jacket wrapped around it if you will, this is why the magazines are so thin. This also means that you can not change out the grip sizes, it comes in medium only. So if you want to practice stages that require more than 12 rounds you will need to buy another magazine as well as a magazine holder. Also, ever M&P safety feature is present on the firearm, to include the thumb and magazine safeties. So you may not want to practice dry fires with this weapon due to needing a magazine in for it to function.
Now on to what makes this pistol worth having, it will shoot cheap .22 bulk ammo reliably, I've had 0 failure to fires and every time the firearm has cycled completely ad the slide has locked back to the rear on an empty magazine. THe trigger on this pistol feels nicer than stock M&Ps and is almost on par with the Pro Series models. The front sight is drift adjustable as is the rear with a small hex key, the rear can also adjust for elevation with a small flat head screw driver. The barrel locked in to the frame resulting in outstanding accuracy. the magwel is flared making loading the magazine as smooth as loading a standard M&P despite being a single stack.
In conclusion, while it is by no means perfect, it is still a great product that does exactly as it should, look, feel and shoot like an M&P.
