I'm also a J-frame fan. Too bad about your gunsmith. Many of the talented older revolver 'smiths are dying off. As is the appreciation for a great pocket carry. I'd like to locate another J , you know, for the new york reload
Sorry I'm not much help on the suggestion , but Dave Lauck? or Mark from Gemini?

Second the positive thoughts on J-frame Smiths. I love my stainless Ladysmith .38 with Smith contoured walnut grips. I have an elderly Rossi copy of the J-frame, but it doesn't even get to first base. Also have two N frames, 626 and 27. Old guy's treasures.

I would suggest looking at a Performance Center j-frame if there's one to be found ?

I want to pick-p another J-frame .38 and my old S&W gunsmith is no longer with us. Suggestions on a great j-frame gunsmith. Trigger/action job. Location not an issue.
I sent my 442 to Smith&Wesson for what they call a trigger enhancement job. I was extremely satisfied with the results.
