S&W 3953/3954

Well, I have just about decided that I would like to get my hands on a S&W 3953 or 3954. I have checked a few out and like the look and feel, just wanting to get a few opinions on what you all think of them. How do they compare to the Kahr CW9? It will most likely become my go to CC weapon, so anyone use one for their EDC setup? Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

SW 39- 53 and 54 solved most of the problems I had with the original 39's. (carried a 39-2 in the dark ages). The ejection problems seem to have been corrected, and the 53-54's are DA only... so you dont have to learn that funky transition from DA to SA.

I liked to carry the 39 series... they are light and just about the right size for IWB. My biggest beef is finding magazines... good factory mags are over $30 bucks and you have to look for them.

Yeah, that is what I have been reading up on. I am not real big on the DA/SA idea, not saying its bad, I just like the DAO for myself. What is drawing me in the most is the size. I really like how thin it is. Going from carrying a Glock 19 IWB to a S&W 39 series, I probably would forget it was there.

I have found a few places to get mags for around $25. S&W sure are proud of their mags, even the M&P mags are pricey.

Well except for the trigger my 3913 is the same gun. I've shot a few of the DAO models, and for what its worth, they shoot pretty good. I still prefer my 3913, she's been with me for over 20yrs now, and I've lost count of how many rounds she's launched. The only failures I've had with her have been ammunition related(usually bad primers). CDNN had mags for a while back, and just checking they are all sold out. Here's some pic's for ya.

Yeah, I like the 3913 too, just prefer the DAO a little more. Plus, I can get into a 3953/4 a little cheaper, at least the ones I've seen. I definitely like it though, thanks for posting up the pictures I remember seeing those over on the "other" board. What holster is that? I've seen a few that Don Hume offers.

I have a 3953 that is a good shooter. I haven't carried it yet, due to the limited availibilty of magazines and holsters. I would like to know where to find magazines for $25.
