Rimfire Competitions?

Was looking around the www in search of any rimfire (2-gun) only competitions in the Sooner state. Anybody know of any? Would love to participate in something geared towards autoloaders (rifle & pistol) and cowboy action (single action revolver & lever action rifle... with or without the western garb). I know Ruger has their Rimfire Challenge but they don't seem to occur here in OK. I may be overlooking what's out there and any leads on what's out there would be appreciated.

I know a couple of the folks I shot with at SC today were saying they'll try shooting .22LR next time because of cost considerations... my primary reason when it comes to shooting as my money tree died awhile back. This type of competition may also be an effective way to bring more people/families into the shooting sports scene which can only be a good thing in my opinion.

If there aren't any (competitions in OK) out there, anyone interested in getting something like this going on a monthly basis?

I didn't come in last like I figured I would. :lol:

Actually had a blast which is why I made this post in hopes of finding more rimfire events. As much as I'd love to shoot my .45ACP and .357, the cost of ammo is too restrictive for me to use those firearms in anything but personal defense. I simply don't have deep pockets which is a fact of my life (and I'm sure of many others). And though I've got basic reloading equipment, I've never had the time to use it since life gets in the way of my schedule.

I think that more rimfire competitions would get more folks involved in the shooting sports. It's inexpensive and the next generation of today's kids can become familiar with safe firearms use which in turn will lead to more gun owners in time and thus a retention of our gun rights in the long run.

Plus since many guys shooting .223 are also shooting .22LR in conversions to cut their training cost... why not simply have .22LR comps too? Makes sense to me.

We have a steel challenge match once a month at the Ponca City Range.
I think we are starting a monthly steel sillouete match.
All are .22 cal shoots. So far, they are pistol. I'm trying to put a bug in their ear to do a 2 gun with rifle and pistol.

There are lots of rimfire matches. Most of the multi-gun matches out at OKCGC have rimfire divisions. Also all of the Steel Challenge matches I've shot have been rimfire friendly.

Those are primarily in SC right? I've looked at the multi-gun PDF on the OKCGC website and 3-gun at a minimum requires using centerfire firearms (9mm for pistol). Nothing geared towards 2-gun rimfire that I can find. If you have any links please post.

Might have to just run up to Ponca City if they start up some 2-gun rimfire comps.

The High Plains Shooting Challenge is having a rimfire division for the match.
the format is just like 3 gun, except only the rifle will be used.

Any interest here at all? This could be a way to bring more folks into the shooting sports affordably that eventually would move upward to the centerfire 3-gun action.

I talked to Paul at shootin iron the other day. he has not been able to do the monthly IDPA match for a while. He asked me if I would be interested in helping him get it going again, I told him I would help as much as possible.

He said he would like to get a rimfire only event going. He did tell me for sure that there will be a monthly 3-gun match starting up
