I think he said he was proud of the neighbor's kid for being a hired killer that gets paid with the fruits of other's labors without their consent.
The flag doesn't represent anything but involuntary government to me.
The guy in the video sounds indoctrinated to me.
In your video, Carlin says he doesn't understand pride in things not attained by achievement. I guess you didn't notice the American Legion or VFW (can't tell which) cap folded over the other guy's leg, indicating past military service. If I recall correctly, one is not born into the military, it's an organization where personal achievement is possible, encouraged, and essential. More importantly, when it comes down to it, the military is not about politics but those on either side of you.
Since you were involuntarily born into a country full of "hired killers", how about voluntarily relocate? You say being in the military and being paid with tax monies borne of others' labor like those in the military don't pay taxes either. In effect, paying parts of their own salaries. Even in "tax free" combat zones, our pay is still taxed. The government gives it back a few days later, AFTER having earned interest on it, I'm sure.
Calling people in the military "hired killers" is so far from accurate on many levels and without a doubt you knew it was an insult on par with a low blow. In all likelihood, probably less than 1% of people in the military actually ever kill anyone in the course of duty, and you say it like those who do have to commit that act do so without an emotional or psychological toll. Not to mention that phrase instantly brings forth images in the minds of military and civilians alike, of protestors spitting on soldiers in airports, from Vietnam to present day.
Bottom line, your involuntary government and the hired killers they employ maintain your God Given right to spew forth that nonsense rolling around in your head, and prevent others from taking it away from you. I'm far more inclined to respect the fact that other people have differing opinions if they had first hand experience involving the that which they denounce so vehemently.
