Building a long gun when I get home (see my barrel thread here http://www.boomershooter.com/forums/index.php?/topic/10083-lets-talk-barrels/), looking for opinions on triggers. Jewell obviously seems to be the top end name out there, but as usual I'm always lookin for opinions from folks more experienced than me. In this case building a custom tactical long gun.

Oh and forgive me if some of my threads are repetitive of others in the past, I tried the search function and didn't come up with much.

I don't think Bill Springfield does any kind of "drop in trigger" for any bolt gun let alone a Surge action, but I admire the advice.

To the point. Art Jewel! Or McMillen if they still over one, I don't know.

JP triggers are what I have on my AR's. They offer a drop in model, or one that you have to fit.
Personally I liked installing the ones that you have to fit to the gun.

I believe Make Ready.com has them for sale.

Surgeon actions don't come with a trigger, so what is he going to send to Mr. Springfield to get redone? Also to tune a bolt action rifle trigger you need the bolt with striker installed AND the receiver, so you cant just send your trigger to anyone to get it done, the whole rifle needs to go. Last I checked Mr. Springfield doesn't specialize in tuning bolt action triggers, so while the advice may be good about sending it out to save money, you would be sending the whole rifle away, or in this case sending nothing because it doesn't have one, unless you order one with the action and then it will be a jewel or some other high end trigger that will be fully adjustable by the end user and wont have to be sent anywhere.

Jewell is my go to trigger for long range bolt guns.
Timney is so so in my opinion.
Rifle basix is a little better than a timney but not by much.

There are some two stage triggers as well but I've never tried them.

If you decide to go Jewell look at Great Scott Shooters, he sells them as cheap as anyone and you will get it in two days. If you are going with a surgeon then be sure to order the R700 trigger WITHOUT the bottom bolt release, the surgeon has a bolt release on the side of the action.

Pro tip noted. Ty

If you want to shoot a rifle with a Jewell trigger before you buy one just holler and we can go shoot.
