Any of our sponsors affected by Operation Choke Point? I've recently heard of two LGS/pawn shops getting notices from Sun Trust their bank accounts and credit card processing abilities have been cancelled: Lyman G&P and Golden Strip Pawn. I wonder who the big box stores bank with, and why they haven't been affected?

I'd be willing to bet that the big box stores don't get messed with because of the volume that they do.

Well, today, Russ Cassell of WORD radio broadcast from Lyman G&P, finally drawing out a response from SunTrust. They said they have many FFL's as clients, but were cancelling their business with pawn shops, payday loan & check cashing businesses. Either a smokescreen, or Op Choke Pt is trying to eliminate competition for the Postal Service's new financial offerings (payday loans). Nothing to do with guns...

It is absurd that a bank such as Sun Trust has made such an asnine decision. They reportedly are concerned about returned checks. Pawn Shops have no returned checks. We deal in cash. I work at one. We don't take checks.
Fountain Inn Gun and Pawn was affected by this and Carolina First Bank eagerly jumped in there and took care of their banking needs. That oughta tell you something.
The shop I work in stopped doing business with Sun Trust years ago due to poor customer service.
Sun Trust is a poor bank to do business with.

Thanks, Stan. I was hoping you would chime in. Do we need to start a list of good and bad banks now? It's amazing what these minority opinions can do. We need to make a stand with our dollars.
