Hey gents, looking at my Open 3-gun rig set up now.

In USPSA, I use a CR Speed rig, holster and mag pouches. However in 3-gun, it looks like there's a lot of potential for moving rig around and changing things up mid match between stages from what I've read. So, I'm going down the Safariland route initally for 3-gun.

I'm wondering if I need to be adding anything else to my rig considerations... or if this will be enough to get me through the first few matches. I'm not doing any majors yet, just locals and maybe the Nov 3 Rolla state championship match if my setup comes together by then.

Here's what I'm working with... (most still on order) and all safariland unless otherwise noted.

Inner / outer belt ELS belt
4 extra ELS - 34 & 35s I think
comp holster - 014
3 STI competition mag holders - 773s
2 AR mag pouches with ELS - 774s
2 Shotgun Mag pouches with ELS - 774 variant (actually the Rifle M1A pouch, but told it works well for the MKA 1919 mags)
2 Quick Lock System (to try)
1 12ga shot shell holder slip on (holds 2, doubles as belt keeper and couple of odd rounds I may need)

Also have 2 AP Custom classic 4-shell shotgun carriers, again for the odd buck or slug rounds or possibly hot prarie rounds or something I'm thinking...

Since I am in Open and using Mag for shotgun, I'm hoping I don't have to lug around too many extra rounds on my hip for either. I'm expecting to have more shotgun needs on the rig than AR... but really don't know what the heck to expect.... such as forced reloads during arrays, or really long courses which will cause me to go beyond what is in gun and on hip... I guess there's always pockets if it is just one extra mag or something.

BTW: for rifle I have a selection of 30-rnd mags, 2 with nordic extensions on them, and a surefire mag.... pistol, I know I'm covered... and for shotgun I'll have 4 10-rnd mags and 1 5-rnd mag.

Hopefully I'm not way off base here... any thoughts on rig or mags for rifle / shotgun (in open) appreciated,

If you are running a mag fed shotgun you won't have any need for those shell caddy's. If you want to change ammo you either mix it into the mag or switch mags to get at it.

Run your 60 rd surefire mag or 48 round nordic mag with your rifle and get a mag pouch from bladetech and mount it at 90 degrees across your lower back for your back up mag.
