decided to detail clean a 1911 today and do it on the deck, very nice out and the light is better

So... Taking the sear and disconector out... I hear a "tink" as metal hits the deck. A quick audit finds the sear, disconnect, series 80 parts- and comes up short a sear pin and that duck head deal thanks part of the series 80 parts

I find the duck head... And get out a flashlight... The pin must have fallen through a gap in the boards.
Half an hour of looking I give up and start bagging the 1911 in a bag... And prepare to beg a pin on the forum or call Brownells

The grip screws and other pins are in my screwdriver box... And low and behold so is the sear pin...
Happy ending! The gun even shoots pencils and every hole has a part in it!

Related story. Rancher in newkirk ok, goes to work. Walking out the back door he sees a calf standing on his pool cover. He decides to shoo the calf off the cover.
Wrong move.
Calf panics, hoof tears hole in the cover, panics more, cover tears completely, and the 300 lb calf drops into the partially empty pool.
Serious panic starts now with the calf trying to climb up the sides of the pool shredding the sides of the liner. The calf finally found the steps and got out.
About 7 grand in damage.
He told me that on retrospect, he should have just went to work, and let it walk off like it walked on :D

Horse in pool rates a "Jesus take me now" moment.

I don't remember taking the sear pin out.... Didn't intend to drop the sear cause I was going to hose it out with spray and compasses air.

Maybe I should order some spares?

Dennis ... My horse stepped in through the pool cover about 2 months ago. No steps either. I caught him with a lariat the cover sank around him and I pulled on him till he figured out he could swim.

After a few minutes with a buggy whip he jumped put of the shallow end... And I spent the rest of the afternoon at th ER taking a Demerol nap.

My fist experience with:

A. a savage pre-accu trigger bolt rifle.
B. Messing with triggers.
C. new ford explorer.

So i got this new gun and decide to **** with trigger. I got it real light and about 3/4 of the sear adjusted out. A mosquito fart would set it off. Consequently, so would closing the bolt firmly... I found this out the first time I went to our place in the woods. I parked, got out, loaded the gun, jacked a round in the chamber, and closed the bolt to hear KABOOM! Scared the elephant dung out of me! After I collected myself, I realized that the gun was pointing into the explorer when it went off. I found the hole in the floorboard, crawled under the explorer and found the dripping gash in my transmission... This was pre cell phone for me and about a four mile walk back to pavement to hitch a ride home. Fortunately, it didn't trash the trans, just the housing. My mechanic heli-arced the gash and it was good to go. That is after I welded a plug in the floorboard. I told my wife I must have hit a big rock and did the damage. I'm glad she never noticed the divot in the carpet the .308 round left...
