Thinking of maybe a metal frame gun for next year. Without breaking the bank, what are some suggestions. Primarily for 3gun and Limited. I'm thinking 2011 is probably out of my budget.

Slim pickins for metal frame, won't break the bank, and good for limited and 3 gun competition.
Maybe a CZ Tactical Sport. It costs more than a Glock, but about half the price of an STI.

I'm a shitty C class shooter who will be lucky to make it to 8-10 matches this year. Take my thoughts keeping that disclosure in mind.

If you want a metal framed gun and don't have the budget for a 2011, the CZ Tactical Sport is a good option. You can get one for under $1200 online. 5.4" barrel. 45 ounces empty so it's not a light gun but it does soak up recoil. The grip is large and not for small hands at all. Factory rear sight doubles as a place to rack the slide as the slide is not very tall. Factory rear with FO front is a good combo. Trigger is very nice and almost too light at 1.5 lbs. Mags are about like 2011 mags, expensive. It's $50 for the mag, then by the time you add in Grams springs and followers and a CZC extended base pad you're at $100 almost. I can easily get 20 in the mags but 21 is a bit tight. Can be done after some home tuning, but have to seat hard. There's decent aftermarket support with parts from CZ, CZ Custom and Cajun Gun Works. Mine has some mods and is not stock. I love it. It now has some additional grip tape, not pictured.

The only real options you have for an inexpensive double stack metal framed gun is the aforementioned CZ (probably the best choice) or a Para P16-40 or P18-9. Wit the recent addition of a few competition type models, they look like shooters. One advantage the Para has is the availability of parts versus the specialized parts of the CZ. I am sure this will open a can of worms since I said Para in a post. ;)

Edited to add the CZ is the best choice by far and probably my favorite gun made, besides my bad ass Blackdog open gun.

This is what I like! Maybe IRS won't screw my eyeballs out next year, or a good bonus.
