And how are things workng out with this now? Funny thing is, they are debating about the arming of police- yet they realize that an MP5 and a Glock 17 is an adequate arming solution. Imagine if WE wanted regular police to have fully automatic weapons? Then again, that might ruin prospects of getting a SWAT position. How soon until the mob mentality says that the police are armed too heavily? Even worse, remove firearms from local LEOs and only allow state police or the military be armed? It won't stop until everyone gets on the same page. Where I live, if the police were unarmed like most of the UK equivalents, that would probably be like putting a bullseye on them.
If they EVER start disarming regular police members, I'm defecting to the Russian Federation. Think I'm kidding? I already know how to make a sign thayt says "WILL SHOVEL SNOW FOR VODKA".
