So im helping a friend build a 1911 we are at the end. mock up and everything went great but on a final assembly we go to put in the bushing. Then see that the barrel is pushed down to the Bottom of the slide/top of the frame (Making contact) and we can not move to. So we move the slide back and the barrel goes backup. So we start testing and can't find why every time it goes into battery it pushes the barrel back down. Im hoping so one may know or have a idea

If I understand your question correctly, the upper lugs are not properly fit, and / or the hood is too long

We have another barrel that will work. We measured the dimensions of both with calipers and they measured the same other than the actual thickness of the barrel being .002 thicker than the other barrel. The barrel lugs are shaped differently however measure the same. Being the only noticeable difference

with thumb pressure can barrel be pushed up into slide lugs? clearance at sides of hood and hood touching but not jammed into breach? how about with barrel bushing installed will it lockup? paint everything with layout fluid and work action gently, check layout fluid.

It sounds like the barrel lugs need to be fit. It's obviously not a drop-in barrel. The one that works probably is. If you take the time and work at it slowly and patiently, it will be a more accurate lockup for you. It's worth doing.

Switchback's suggestion to use layout fluid is great advice. It will show you where to remove material. Be very patient.

There are many good videos out there that would be very helpful to watch.
