Muzzle loader season opens tomorrow

I'm not going out until Sunday (shooting the 3-gun match at OKCGC) but I'll still be using the bow. I don't like the ol' smoke pole much anymore.

I've considered hot-loading the Old Army with 777 and trying to hunt with it but I'm not 100% sure that would be humane. Found some decent spots when I was out running the dog.

I have a extra CVA muzzle loader someone could use if they want

Brant9913 and I are headed to Cherokee (NW Oklahoma) in a few hours. I'm using a omega and the 245 gr power belts over 150 grns of powder. 3 pirodex pellets. The deer is going down or my gun is blowin up. Or both.( Don't try this unless you are absolutely sure your gun is rated for it.). And a nice (for $200) 3-9 Nikon scope with the BCD reticle. This set up was good for two deer last year. One of which almost got left in the 15' deep creek it decided to die in.

Also this weekend will serve as a test for my first batch of cider, recipe curtersey of Kurt Miller. We're hoping mine is as good as his. If not, we will drink it anyway!

The only drawback is we miss the 3-gun match. This is the first weekend in a long time the goal is to fire only one round (or 2, depending on animal cooperation).

Good luck to everyone going to the killing fields!

Phil - quit reading Boomershooter and leave work. I'm ready to go.

I'll be going Sunday with my T/C Omega. Hopefully I won't have to stay out there all week to get some deer.

Saw a three does this evening. They only got to about 350 yards so we passed on them. Don't know what this cannon will do out that far.

Cool Pic!

I got in the stand this am at 0500, and saw a ton of deer.....on the neighbors. I can shoot one there, but the stand is 300 yds + from where the deer are coming out.
Saw 15 this morning, and 12 this evening. I can't put a stand there though. Go figure.

Rifle season, watch out.

Had planned to hunt GA, rifle is in now. Went down last night wife called said the Frankenstorm is suppose to drop a foot to two of snow. So back over the mountain I came. I did get to hang out my buds and put down some cold beers. Good luck to everyone!

Missed opening weekend as I was in SD slaying ditch parrots, going this fri sat sun, also shooting a Sav 110ml -250 Barnes w 42 of VV110 and mph12 sabot

I shoot the savage as well. Have been getting great accuracy from hornady 250 grain sst's. I have some of the Barnes to try. Are you getting good accuracy?
Today was my last day for MZ. Have to get back to work tomorrow. Saw tons of does. A couple of fair bucks within range, but no shooters.

Went out this morning. Didn't see any deer and by 9 a flock of turkeys showed up. Apparently it's opening day of turkey rifle, so it had to die.
