Marlin 795

Brother-in-law an I took the Marlin 795 .22 Mag fed semi-auto out and put 100 rounds through it using Winchester high-velocity hollow point plated bullets. Very accurate at 30 - 50 yards. Had 4 ten round mags that I could fire rapidly and change mags without a problem. Great little rifle for the money. (about 98.00 from Dick's Sporting Goods on sale)

Good to know. I'm pretty knew to shooting and am looking for something that's cheap to buy and cheap to shoot. Right now I only have a Taurus PT92 9mm and am looking for a rifle.

The Marlin/Glenfield models 60 and 70 series all are great inexpensive guns for plinking or for training , with the right aftermarket sights. They are also just plain fun. I just put a set of Tech-Sights on the 795 to simulate the iron sights found on military/battle rifles. They are sold right in South Carolina in Hartsville.http://www.tech-sights.com/ I'll try to get a picture of the 795 on here.

I bought my Taurus and went shooting a couple times and now I'm hooked. I keep looking at different guns and calibers I want to buy now. Is this normal?

Now I want a .22 rifle and pistol and a .357 Magnum. Originally I wanted a .44 but my buddy told me to stick with a .357 Magnum until I got better, a .44 Magnum would cause me to develop bad habits for some reason. He said I could shoot 38 Special out of it and work my way up to shooting .357 Magnum.

Well, you buddy was kind of right...44mags are bad for you...That is why I have 2 of them...

They are a handful with the magnum round...But, lots of folks don't know that you can fire the 44 specials thru your mag...Then, it is very much a ball to shoot...
I started with a 6" barreled S&W .44magnum, and now I also have a 4" .44 magnum..
If you make it to Shootzenfest, you will have to try them with the .44 specials...they will spoil you...

I was shooting my friend's Ruger Super Redhawk .44 magnum this weekend with both the magnums and the specials - great fun both ways!!! I was much more accurate with the .44 specials, even with the scope.

I also enjoy my .357 magnum. I do usually shoot .38 specials through it. The magnums are a real handful in my gun because it is a J-frame with a 1 7/8 inch barrel! I carry it with .38 spl +p rounds in it. I have occaisionally put one .357 magnum FMJ round in the first cylinder for long trips in the car.

I think that you will enjoy whichever one that you decide to go with, both are powerful and fun rounds.
