I have recently acquired a Dawson magwell for my g34. This is on my gen 3 that I did the grip reduction by heat and pressure. I was wondering if you can open up the front of the magwell to match the factory opening. It feels like there is about 1/4 inch of "extra" material at the front of the Dawson magwell.

Has anyone done this? It seems like I can make the opening larger. The cheap plastic one the Dawson is replacing seemed to line up with the front of the Glock magwell better.

I am going to also reduce the thickness of the Dawson grip plug. The grip reduction I did made the opening smaller and the dawson plug puts pressure on the back of the Glock magwell, causing magazines to stick and not slide freely.

my opinion is to scrap the dawson magwell; theres very little room for error with how those fit on glocks. try to fit that to a frame that you reduced thru heating is going to be a can of worms and youll never be happy w it.

Roger that. Looks like I will put the cheap-o poly unit back on and list the installed never shot on the exchange.

Any other advice besides "quit red necking your elephant dung" for an improved magwell?

Looked at it again, I think it is fitting like it was designed, I wasn't taking in the factory bevel on the block frame. I was comparing it to the kids Gen4 and that was part of my problem. I took a few pics. I will post one so you can agree I am over thinking stuff.

yeah, thats as good as its gonna get. the thing to do is install the plug, screw it in via the frame hole, then slip the magwell over the grip and screw into the plug. If theyre overtightened, they can tend to lever off the plug and rise up away from the front of the mag opening. I like to put a couple of dabs of superglue gel on each side of the outside of the frame, to secure it a little more. just dabs.
personally I think magwells on polymer framed doublestacks arent worth putting on. Its a big enough hole as is

I went from a Dawson to a SJC Magwell with a very reduced glock grip and had nothing but nightmares with mags dropping free!!! Holly elephant dung it was a pain in the ass, but I did find a resolution, but that is a whole other story of crap I ended up doing and I learned my lesson about messing with crap you don't need to! If Bob Vogel became a world champion with a Glock without a mag well that should tell you something right there!!

how did you get ahold of Feegee's login?

Finally got around to making it work. Not going to post the details or anything about breaking off a tap in the plug. It works, it wasn't pro gunsmith and mike cyrwus has no fear of competition.
