So I have been shooting what I own since I started competitions, my Sig P228, which I will never get rid of it cause I love that gun. The more I get into competitions the more I want to get set up with a Competition rig that I can still shoot production with and that is a decent price (being a college kid and all). So I have been able to get my hands on all of these at the Shot Show this past January and I truly like the way all of them feel. I also have not shot these particular firearms, although I have shot a M&P9, G17, and XDM 9. I would just like some inputs from guys who have been doing competitions a while. What should my next handgun be!

I like the M&P set up too but always loved the Glock for that reason. Those are the two I am back and forth right now on. I saw that handgun and it is good deal and great set up but I want to start from scratch and see where it goes.

Everyone has their own opinions on what they like best.
I've shot all 3 of those choices and I prefer the M&P far more than the Glock or XDM, mainly due to ergonomics and the natural point of aim.
They're all great pistols for the sport so its really going to boil down to what you like best.

I have an M&P 9 pro rig that you can run at okcgc uspsa if you'd like. Belt, holster mags, and mag pouches. Bring the ammo and squad up with me. Just give me a shout and I'll bring it out to the match.

Wow thank you I will take you up on that offer if I ever get out to that match. When is that one cause I work on Saturdays. The natural point of aim and trigger is better in my opinion on the M&P but I do know the reason behind the Glock grip angle and it makes sense for combat effectiveness.

I do SDA classes every Saturday and am taking off for other matches... One time I will have to take off for that match! I really like the FNX series (well for one because I like a DA/SA gun). I never really liked the FNS trigger or the fact they had an external safety (I think that has to be on when starting a match because all safeties that the firearm comes with must be on?) I really do not know if that is true so correct me if I am wrong. I also have not seen the FNS Competition model. I will see if my boss will put it on the showroom floor so I can get my hands on it! Thanks for the input guys!

If you can get your boss to do that I'm sure there will be a lot of people interested in it.

In my opinion a Glock 34 would be the way to go. You can practically replace any part on it with after market parts, it does have good accuracy, etc. I'm not hating on the other ones, they're all good but I say Glock since I haven't had anything go bad when I use my Glock 22.

Man you can not go wrong with any of them. I shoot the M&P9 and love it, my dad shoots the M&P9 pro and Glock 34 and they are both flawless. Then my buddy shoots the XDM 9 and loves it, all very accurate guns. You have some tough choices man.

So I have decided on the Smith & Wesson M&P Pro C.O.R.E. 9mm. Here is my dilemma now. I have the 4.25" model in the shop right now. I originally wanted the 5" because that's all I knew they had. I shoot a p228 mainly which is under a 4" barrel and I do alright with that. I guess my question is how much of a difference will .75" of barrel length really make in 3-gun and USPSA? Thanks for the info guys!

No question that the m&p feels the best but the last 7 m&p PRO pistols I felt had VERY grity triggers. WTF you know pro series should be the elephant dung. I would go glock or the 5.25 springer. Maybe it was a bad batch I got ahold of but its up to you. They are all pretty nice in there own right

Stock triggers on M&P's are pretty gritty, but they're real easy to fix up for a clean break at no charge if you have a dremel with a polishing wheel.
You can polish a glock trigger too, but good luck getting a clean break without a spongy feel.
