m&p striker block plunger is jammed

The other day i was cleaning my g/fs m&p40c i finished up and go to put if back together and the slide would not go back on. After an examination i discovered the striker block plunger only depressed about 1/16 ". I know its not very difficult to remove and replace but im no gumsmith and was wondering if i should send it to s&w or just do it my self or take it to the gunsmith? any imput would appreciated.

Look up Burwell's instructions for removing the striker block ti is easy stuff

The biggest trick is to get the spring and metal plate back in place

Have you replaced the rear sight recently? It might be gunked up, or rusted up.

Never taken off. Its about 2 months old and only about 500rds through it so far. I clean it after every range trip.
