want to find someone local to the OKC metro that can cut a frame on a 1911 and install a bobbed main spring housing.

just wondering who locally has a good reputation for that kind of work.

Thanks.

After my experiences with both guys, I would go to Mike hands down. Honestly was not that impressed with Barry! Don't make the same mistake I did!

That's very surprising.
There are numerous folks here that have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Greyson's work.

If only you wanted someone who worked on 1911's in the 9x21 or 9x23 calibers...
But, since you're probably working with a standard caliber I would suggest the fine gents that the previous posters recommend.

The two guys Matt mentioned are the only two I am aware of.
There's one more guy in the state that claims to be a 1911 gunsmith, but he's a huge doucher, and from what I heard, he had to call an actual gunsmith to ask how to fit an extractor, so I won't mention his name.

I'm very curious as to why you say this.
Could you elaborate on it?
What work were you having done by Barry, and what was it you were unhappy with?

Matt, I took him my STI 1911 to get an ambi fitted, when I got it back it just didn't function reliably and came very inconsistent! I just wasn't happy with it, so therefore I took it to Mike to get it cleaned up. If I were to do it again I would've taken it to Mike in the first place... Just my opinion

How can you make fun of a guy for making an awesome gun and then giving it away for free? Too bad he was ran off because of a differnt opinion he had on a brand of gun, maybe there would have been a custom 1911 in the prize table for bs contengency.

Beau, you might want to revisit those old threads before you start proclaiming his mistreatment. Ther're lots of people here with a different opinion of any given subject, but they don't get hostile when they're told they're wrong. Much of his comments had to be removed simply because of the content in them.

Well I don't dwell on the past like many. Everyone makes a mistake at some point. That was well over a year ago and a few people like to poke fun, but the truth is if they handled one of his guns they might think twice before automatically start the hating. But how can a person's opinion be wrong?

Beau if you want to start trouble I'd be happy to delete your account or you can go somewhere else. You're buddy got drunk and started posting like an idiot which got him in a fight with every regular member here. If he wants to come back tell him to email me about becoming a sponsor.
