I am looking to expand and get something for the wife. What are your thoughts on the CW9. We were at H&H today looking for holsters and I thought I would check it out. Wife liked how it felt in her hand and the size, I found the slide lock a little difficult to use for my bigger hands but she didn't seem to mind. We had the baby with us so there was no renting it to try it out today, but maybe next week....

So do any of you all have one? and if so What are your thoughts on it?

I got to play with a gen 4 glock 19 too. That was pretty sweet also and may be my next for me pistol, and first ever ugly gun (that I will admit to owning)

I have not owned one, but I got to handle one, it was not a bad pistol, it seemed to be quality made. I think it was at Sooner State Pawn where I got to handle it

CW9 is my regular carry gun.
It shoots very nice for a smallish carry gun. I'm happy with the stock trigger.
The sights are nothing special, but it hits just fine, and it eats everything I've fed it.
Only thing I dont like is the sharp slide release lever...I should file on it someday.

I put about 50 rounds through one when my wife and I were looking for a small 9mm for her. She didn't like the extra recoil from it being so light weight and decided to get a Springfield XD9 subcompact instead.
I liked the gun just fine, it shot straight and seemed to be reliable even with her flinching because of anticipated recoil.
I'll probably end up getting one for myself when I get some extra cash saved up.

I owned one for a short time. It seemed to be a well made gun. But mine shot horribly at close range. Plus it had several issues with returning to battery, about every other mag had atleast 1 incident. I wish it would have been a better shooter, then I would still have it. If you are serious about getting one, sooner state pawn has them for $400 NIB

I am pretty serious about it. The wife and I are going to try out a few things after our CCW class on saturday.

The list to try so far is the CW9 and a G19. Is there anything else in this category that I should look at while we are there?

Got to shoot the both the CW9 and the G19. It definitely is a learning curve.

I liked the CW9 at first but it was impractical for the wife and ended up being painful for me. The recoil from it was to say the least stupid for a 9mm. There is zero chance for quick follow up shots. Also some pin was sticking out of top of the trigger, while a right handed person would have probably never known it hurt me to shoot it.

The G19 was pretty cool, it broke my glock cherry! Recoil is good, sights are great, accuracy sucked! It was probably that super spongy wierd as all get out trigger but I was shooting like 6-8" groups from 7 yards with that thing! Don't get me wrong, the trigger felt cool but if i can't ever hit anything with it then that would be pointless to own.

The search continues!

Check out Springfields XD series pistols. The grip and trigger feels better than the glock and they're great reliable guns.

will do, I shot a full size xd s while back but I was more worried about the yahoo i was shooting with than focusing on the gun.

Have any of you guys had any trigger time with the Sig P250 or the taurus PT111 millennium pro? Also do you all know if Heartland or H&H have them to rent?

i had the CW9, had the PT111 pro, and i have several XDs. I didnt like the trigger pull on the CW9, the trigger on the taurus is REALLY long, and the XDs, well i love my XDs. i have one XDsc9mm, full size 40 and full size 357 sig. my carry gun now is the XD9sc almost always. never shot the Sig P250 so no help there.

When you went to shoot the guns did she pick out the one(s) that she shot? if not, just give her Carte Blanche and have her try everything that even comes close to catching her eye.

Give her some LOOSE guidelines and let her have at it! Kind of remind her though that a Beretta 92 may feel good shooting but it isn't going to be fun to carry.

Sometimes its the littlest things that make a person decide they do or don't line a gun. But once the first impression is made, that's it!

Thanks for the responses guys. She actually picked out a sig p250. It has a crazy long but super smooth trigger. She hasn't put but 200 rounds through it but I tink so far she likes it, only time will tell.

My wife didn't like the narrow pistols like the Kahr, Walther PPS or HK P7, they all hurt the base of her thumb.
She also shot a number of double stack pistols, Glocks, S&W M&P compact, Steyr M9-A1 and a Sig P239.
The ultimate choice was the Springfield XD9 SC, she liked it immediately, no question about it. It was important that she made her own choice and because of that she's comfortable with it and carries it despite the weight and bulk.
I never liked the XD pistols before that, but after shooting the XD9 SC I have to say they are really excellent.
