Been building my rifle for a year or so now. Have it about the way I like it. (almost) I recently did an Adams Arms XLP piston conversion with the low mass carrier. Had some growing pains figuring the system out with the lo mass system, but luckily for me Adams Arms is local to me and I actually know several of the guys that work there from shooting 3gun with them so often. TK & Tim from AA helped me get my buffer weight figured out and I was able to tune the gas settings down a couple of notches. It now shoots super flat.

We took weights out of the buffer since we didn't have a JP Low Mass buffer with us at the time. We took out all of the weights except for 1, and then I had a delrin rod in my tool box that I cut down to size put in the buffer to keep the weight from shifting.

Weighed it and the buffer is just shy of being the same weight as the JP low mass buffer. I was going to go ahead and buy the JP buffer since it's a different color and that would make it harder to get confused with other buffers and I don't want to put it in the wrong rifle and cause issues.

The JPSCS system is about double the cost of the JP buffer. Is it worth the extra $$$$ to get the silent spring system, or is it just about the sound?

I have the silent capture spring in my rifle. I have yet to add an adjustable gas block and low mass carrier. JP has spring options to lighten it up and match your system. I think I read somewhere that they are 1911 springs and you can swap them out fairly easily. The twank twank is gone too

I cant tell you if they're worth it or not, but I sell quite few of them.
So, some people think they are.

I don't think it's as easy to tune to a low mass system. I'd call JP to get their recommendation. It does make a gun quieter and smoother that's for sure.

I love the JPSCS except for its weight. It's super smooth, quiet, and tuneable. That being said the only time I run one these days is if I'm trying to add weight to the rear of a rifle to balance it out, like on my .308 with JP handgaurd and ACE stock. Since you've added a piston conversion it might be just the ticket. And yes it will work fine with adj. gas and Low Mass goodies.

So after all the work you've done getting it tuned up and running like a champ to where you're happy with the performance of the rifle, now you wanna switch out parts???
Alrighty then....

I really like my JP SCS. I am running it in my 3-gun competition rifle now. Only downside is the added weight. But after you get used to the smooth operation and lack of the nasty buffer spring sound, you sorta get addicted to it. I went out and shot my MK18 last weekend which has a VLTOR A5 buffer and for the first little bit all I could focus on was the movement of the buffer and the spring sound.

I just added a Syrac Adjustable gas block and JP LMOS carrier to my rifle and it runs perfectly with the SCS with the stock spring configuration. I picked Jesse's brain about this setup before I ran it, and I also emailed JP and they suggested running the stock setup. I have the spring set but have never found any reason to switch out the stock spring. It has run every upper I have ever shot on that particular lower.
