And what happens if a malfunction forces you to do a reload? Always practice the basics. They put you on a path to excellence.

I shoot idpa and idpa-like defensive matches and carry a cc gun daily
That means I'm probably going to engage... Evaluate and reload with retention of that partial mag in mind. I think the young folks call that a "tactical" reload.
IDPA limits shooters to ten rounds... I've been working with 8 (1911) .... So shooting a long string has taken some adjustment.

Those big glock mags are fun... But I don't think I'd carry 2 for EDC.... The 15 rounders are enough and I carry at least 1reload whenever I have a gun on.

Only thing I shot this yr was a USPSA match, Outlaw IDPA and two of the Heartland CCW matches. Though I have the opposite effect when I am used to mostly shooingt ESP and SSP then going to CDP really had me working hard it seemed. Only because it was so new. Since we get to see and score the stage usually before shooting it it really only takes picking your spot.though on the shorter stages those extra two rounds can make a difference in reloading or not.

I carry a spare mag more for the oops malfunction then for the round count. That stated it is always better to have then not. My CCW needs is not offensive in nature or suicidal. I carry two speed loaders with a snubby and 1 mag with a semi-auto be it a high cap or low cap mag. On trips I carry extra ammo in the vehicle but not on me. Your needs and views very well can be different from mine.

I love the Gen4 19. I just traded my Gen4 19 to my father in law for his Gen4 26. He's a bit larger man than me and the 26 is easier for me to conceal. Apparently I shot the G26 fairly well last Sunday at the Heartland Shoot in the sub-compact category.

They sell a back up parts kit for a Glock on Glockstore.com about 25 dollars it is a got to have.

I was tapping the locking block pin back in... shattered in 3 peices.... and I mean "tapping" like a watchmaker taps stuff.

Midway is sending a titanum pin set along with some common spares. I feel better hoarding parts for most of my guns....

Funny, all you truck~ snob bastards pick on Chevies... so far my 2003 Silverado tow hooks have been used.... getting Dodge Rams out of the mud.

When Bob Seger does your off-brand truck commercials you non GM drivers can be proud too!

Well... the used Glock 19 is around 1200 rounds so far. The return to battery issue has stopped, I think we are broken in now. We went over 300 rounds without cleaning... basically no reliability issues to report.

The front sight is staying put (a little more tourqe on that tiny little screw!)
I have to paint the titanium pins to be IDPA SSP legal (or am I over reading the rules?) Sharpies are wonderful.

The grip is what's fooled me the most. At first, it felt like a chunk of 2x4. I had a Handall on it- felt too big. About a month ago I put it back on- now it's "just right". After a few months I guess the hand adjusts and muscle memory takes over.
People who transition to the thicker grip need a few weeks to acclimate.. and for the record- I still prefer the 1911 with thin stocks the best.

Accuracy? At 10 yards or less- just fine. I am not a "natural" action shooter but the Glock seems to hit what I point at in IDPA style shooting. At 20 yards or more...it's a crap shoot for me. The tru glo sights are not for precision shooting-they cover up the A zone at a distance, I have to really slow down to get a bead on the longer shots.

Since this gun came home last fall it's been my daily carry about 80% of the time. I load 147 Grain Winchester Rangers for CCW duty and have run a few through this gun. Ive tried a few 115 grain Remington HP - all loads are accurate and work through this gun without failures. I even invested in a better holster for the 19... a Safariland version of the "summer special" style IWB.
