Flash>>>> Hell has frozen over.

I bought a GLOCK...the model 19 to be exact...............

It was a toss up between the 19 and the M&P Compact. I needed a "hi cap" 9x19 and those two boiled out. The G19 was lightly used... it doesnt warm up to me... I guess I could trade it off later.

Great weapons those Glocks. Shoot it and enjoy it.

Probably the best Glock ever made IMO.
I don't get mine out as much as I used to, but my 19 has been so reliable that it got the bedside duty for my house.

So far I like it. Carries well... lot's of "melted" edges and it doesnt weigh much. I don't think this Glock will totally replace my SW's and 1911 as carry guns... but I sure like having a box-o-ammo on tap for about the same weight as a full sized steel gun.

The price was attractive. This one cost about half what a 1911 runs for now days (at least the Colts and Kimbers or SA versions). Glock has been around for 35 years or so... maybe the system will prove reliable (LOL).

Mentally.... I know that this thing is essentally a "revolver" as far as safe handling goes... but my mind "feels" a semi-auto gun when my hand touches it. After years of guns with safeties and decockers ...not having that on a "semi-auto" will take some getting used too. My thumb needs a job.

So.... took it all apart and did the .25 cent trigger job on it. Actually, this individual pistol's trigger was not very gritty at all to start with. I just buffed up all the trigger surfaces with some 1600 cloth and Mother's Mag Wheel Polish ... more of a good cleaning than any thing.
I have not unpacked all my tools yet... God only knows where the Dremel is......

Put it back together with no extra parts and it seems to function check per the Armorers's manual.

3 mags, some Looper Leather... good to go Sunday at Heartland for a Maiden Cruise

this pistol is a keeper. I may even toss some night sights on it. counting to "15" is a challenge... and getting my mind wrapped around planning reloads (match shooting) will take some adjustments.

I found it to be suprisingly flat for recoil. Thats a plus...most of the 9mm guns i've shot have not been wristbreakers, but they tend to be a little flippy. The 19 is comfortable in that regard, even with the shorter frame.

It's on me today... didnt even clean it last night. It's a shame to run the diswasher for one gun :85:

OK... we have about 6 weeks invested... and about 300 rounds downrange (all match shooting)

my only cat lady is... this gun in too slick. The factory texture just let's this thing wallow in hand.

The factory sights are a bit blurry too... but I need to "look" at some alternatives (pun intended) before the factory sights get replaced. Bifocals make handguns less fun to shoot as the eyes age.

I will be sending it off for some stippling as soon as I can get some extra moola earmarked for the work..

My confidence is such that I may invest in a better holster for the 19

Don't ever look some skateboard tape for some extra bite. That'll keep ya gripped up until you get the cash for a stipple job.

I meant over look......

Glock progress...

I had a couple of Heartland Outdoor Gift certs around. My prowess in the random drawing skill set at David E's carry gun match really paid off. $100 of funny money scored a set of Tru Glow's for the G19.

Way cool night sigts. These are the good ones with tritrium and a fiber rod. I can see these with my near and far lens in my bi-focals. Installed them myself- but the sugeons's hemostat I used in leiu of the special 3/16in hex driver did not get the little bolt tight.

Special nut driver and a couple of other goodies are enroute form Midway as I type.

Ran 100 rounds through this gun as Oklahoma Shooting Skills last weekend. Got the retread the Handgun 2 class. If you dont shoot with Will Anderson your missing a great thing. Well worth the investment.... and you will get some vegtables on the training plate... but those basics are GOOD for you.

I am still having trouble hitting post -it note sized targets with the Glock. But I am not to worried about the lack of fine accuracy ... this gun will land combat- efficient shots at center mass well past 30 feet for me... and that seems to be the goal with any carry pistol.

Getting a little purple loc tite and a good snug down on that front site will go a long way in mitigating some anxiety. I'd hate to loose a $50 chunk of plastic and tritruium to a loose screw.

Next... we get this thing grippy.

Just pop in a full size stick w/ a plus anything base pad and not worry about reloads.
Congrats on your purchase. I think the compact and sub-compact are the best Glocks.
Hope you enjoy the 19 and get much shooting pleasure from it.

Well.... this Tru Glo seems to be allergic to Loc Tite. Shot loose after 75 rounds or so. I took it all apart (again) cleaned it all down with acetone and a dental pick and knife blade... and put it back together again. Purple is supposed to work with fine threads... I'd stick some red on this but it's really hard to take apart (without heat) if I ever need to pull this sight off on purpose

If it shoots loose again... I may have to break out the JB Weld.

IDPA at Weathorford.... the return to battery issue seems to have gone away. Even Glocks need some break-in. I've been working on learning where the trigger resets. this gun fires faster than my brain can line up the sights.

Jeff the green works on fine threads too. But then again you need heat for removal. I'd just put blue on it, I've never had an issue with small fine pitched threads and the blue.

I think the 19 is the one of, if not the best, all around defensive handgun made. Small enough to conceal, big enough to handle well. A man can't beat that....well you can but you'll go blind.

And what happens if a malfunction forces you to do a reload? Always practice the basics. They put you on a path to excellence.
