I see a bunch of full custom guns and now even the STI Apeiro having the "island cut" barrel where the front sight is mounted on a rib on the barrel itself and not on the slide.

Do my fellow lim shooters out there think this is an advantage? I don't know if I want one, but I definitely want to try it out. B)

island cut???

I guess sv coprwrighted "sight tracker".

Just another way to skin a cat. Ill tell you this; it changes nothing as far as seeing your sights. In that respect its a gimmick.

I'm with Cyrwus & Jesse on this one. If the rear sight were stationary relative to the barrel as well, then you'd have something (like an old bolt rifle). The sights would always be in alignment to the barrel, regardless of bushing or lug wear etc.

I've seen it on comp'd carry pistols like Nighthawk T3 & I think some of the Springer V10's have it as well. This would be the only advantage I see for it. Of course, YMMV.
