Ideas for making a clay pigeon holder.

I just looked the the pics again. Flatland, Are you trying to shoot deer on a golf course? Piles of corn on the fairway is an excellent idea.
Hmm. You noticed that.

Picture was taken in our back yard. We've been feeding the deer for several years and beginning last year we started seeing some nice bucks. Lots of large 8 pointers so far this fall and rumor is there is a monster 12 pt lurking nearby.

Not to fear, I'm not a deer hunter. Have not been since my daughters branded me a "Bambi Killer" many years ago.

I'm NOT feeding/baiting deer . . . . I'm feeding squirrels and birds ,

I shoot the deer to protect the squirrel feed. :hunter:

It's legal as long as you have a sign by the corn warning the deer that deadly force has been authorized....and there's no game warden around.

Just got my Amazon order for the 50 exhaust clamps. They only sent 1. I guess the other 49 were not included. $26 for one g.d. muffler clamp.

I went the high-roller route and bought a dozen from O'Reillys auto. 2.69 each for the 2 1/2", minus a 10 percent military discount. Not the greatest deal, but I guess it could have been worse. I could have paid 26 bucks each.

You got screwed. When I posted the link the price for 50 clamps was under $15.

I've noticed this before with Amazon, Something gets in demand and the price goes up.

But delivering only one clamp? It even shows the shipping weight is 24#. Notify Amazon of the problem and send it back on their dime.

It is already heading back to Kentucky. Will try again later next week.

I bought out O'Reilly's of their 1 5/8" and 2" clamps. They were cheaper and work well so far. I've only put up two and hit each with about a dozen rounds or so to check for damage and splatter potential, but so far so good. I'll try hitting them with slugs tomorrow to see how they hold up. Maybe 7mm Rem Mag.

Slugs? 7 Mag? You ain't testing, You destroying. :acute:

That muffler clamp/rod idea looks simple enough. Great idea!
I just weld a short piece of 3/4" angle iron or whatever is handy to form a cross on a old electric fence post, pound it in the ground, bend it back a little and put the clay on it.

I've shot both angle iron and rebar with muffler clamps now and no sign of immediate damage, so they should work pretty well, given I don't have a welder. Now I need to make a portable stand for them so I can take them to the other range I shoot at. I'm thinking sand-filled PVC pipes should work.

For super cheap and easy to tranport target stands, I cut some 2-1/2" ID PVC pipe into 6" lengths. I drive some of those big spikes Home Depot sells for railroad ties a couple inches into the ground. Slip the PVC pipe over the nail along with the 1 x 2 boards.

I can carry about a dozen "target stands" in a 5 gallon bucket.

I made some stands using the PVC also, but I used pipe straps and attached them to 2 x 4s cut and screwed together. They take up much more space than your idea. Wish I'd known to try that a couple years back. Mine works decently well without driving and pulling spikes which is a plus. I'm trying to envision how that would work for angle iron with the pigeon holders. I already have a bunch of those metal spikes I was using for landscaping timbers. A tangent here; landscaping timbers and sand may work for a sandbox, but it does NOT work well to make a level pad for an above-ground pool. That was a waste. On the plus side, when the pool sprang a leak, my wife let me shoot it with my broadheads before the water ran out.

I'm thinking narrower PVC pipes and those spikes should work great. I'll try that.
