One of my Ruger M77s lost a bit of bluing on the barrel. It was rubbed off from being in a gun rack in an ATV. What can I do or use to touch up this bare spot?

thanks, K

I have used this with decent success

Cold blue isn't especially good at protecting metal. I mean, neither is hot bluing, but cold bluing is worse at it. The benefits are mostly cosmetic.

That said, it's a whole lot cheaper and easier than having a funsmith reblue the whole thing.

in this case it is purely cosmetic. Seeing that rubbed patch simply bugs me everytime I look at it and it reminds me of the situation of how it got there (I don't like that memory).

thanks, Burk.

Vans instant gun blue A+++ check it out, I have seen guys that cold blue entire pistols with it and its pretty dang close to hot blue. stuff is pretty tuff to, however it is not a forgiving as some with metal prep and cleaning, so make sure the gun is really clean, I use denatured alcoholic it works good.
