I know some people wouldn't like that title. I don't care how many guns anyone has, that doesn't impress me anymore, I just couldn't think of a short title that asks the question how many guns do you have compared to the amount of guns you had before you started shooting matches. I know some people here have been shooting matches all of their life, but there have got to be quite a few like me that started later in life. Myself, I have fewer guns than when I started shooting matches. I sold some to buy better guns and gear. I would probably sell some more, but those are the ones my dad gave and they just sit in my gun safe.

FYI, I just thought of a better title, but we'll leave it at that and let some wonder what it might have been. :)

I'm the same as you. Although I don't really compete in matches I sold down to get better. At one time I think I had like 9 bolt action rifles and now I have 3. I had 4 pistols and sold down to 1 and put all that money on getting better rifles and better glass. But I too have the old guns that dad and grandad have given me over the years that have more sentimental value than cash value. Except the Winchester 1873 that worth quite a bit.

I don't think anyone is offended by the question. But giving out the amount of firearms is a subject many won't discuss. I may sound a little paranoid but I assure you that this sight is monitored daily by the powers that be. It is no secret that there are elitists out there that think only the police and military should have firearms so in turn there are many enthusiasts that work very hard to have unregistered firearms in their possession. I understand your question and appreciate where you are going with it but personally I chose to say a few of the things that I have but I will not disclose everything.

I will say this though ALL of mine are shooters, there is no room in my inventory for wall hangers.......yet.

I did have over 50 at one time, but since I have started shooting competition I have sold a large quantity of them, not just to buy better guns though. I have gotten rid of most of my Glocks because since I got my Limited G35, a regular glock just does not feel right in my hand

I sold all but 3 guns my dad gave me and bought 8-10 competition guns. I have 4-5 CCW hidden around and the other 10 or so are competition ready. If I can't shoot them I really don't have a need or use for them.

Seriously?! You are a member of a website that focuses on firearms and you are offended by a question like this?

chill dude. i wasnt offended. i just asked a question. i just have a natural suspicion when it comes to people asking about what i have.

To answer your question, I've really been shooting competitions since I was a kid, back yard/creek bank stuff, graduating in mid-life to shotgun sports. But the formal competitions with timers started early last year. I can say I've only bought two guns since then to use for competitions, but they are not strictly for that purpose. I've been shooting box stock pistols, rifles, and shotguns, trying to stay up with the fast guys, and that may not be possible at my skill level. Gonna have to jump off the deep end if I want to get competitive and get some gear designed for the job at hand. They tend to laugh at you, showing up for a three gun with a classic Merkel SXS shotty. :D

Then you didn't read the my question in its entirety. I said I don't care how many anyone has, that wasn't the question and your armory does not impress me unless you are actually shooting.

I had 15 at one time, but I would go shooting once maybe twice a year. When I would go shooting with my dad and brother I would take 3-5 guns with me to shoot and acutally thinking I might get to be a better shot if I went twice a year. Now I shoot one match a month and go practice at the range once in between, dry fire practice and now I just hope I might get better. I go to the range now and I take 3 guns, the ones I shoot at the 3-gun mathces.

Thanks for playing everybody. :)

I helped you out with the title Troy.

My answer is; the same. I started shooting matches as a way to get better with my carry guns. So I still have the same carry guns that I did before I started.

[EDIT] I actually did buy a new .22LR so I could shoot some Steel Challenge. So I guess my revised answer should be PLUS ONE
