How far forward should I file the loading port near the mag tube?

When I load the shells, they still hit the top of the port so I assume I should file that part off, but how far?

And yes, I bubba'd it. It would have been easier with a dremel! I'll sand it smooth later.

Start small cause you can't put material back on.

Main thing I'm after is that the edges are smooth on the way into the tube.

Is that an M3000?

Hand filing is a better option than a dremel, the Dremel can get out of hand real quick.
Go to harbor freight and pick up some diamond files to help clean up the roughness.

It looks like you can still take moreoff by the pics. I used a file on mine for the sides, and then switched to a dremmel tool for the front area. But I also have a variable speed dremel so it doesn't get out of hand so fast. deffinately agree with Jesse that you should go a little at a time, that's what I did.

What gun is that? That would help us know how much more you can take off.

It's an ATI TACSX2. I wanted to try bubba'ing a cheap gun before I did a more expensive one.

I rounded off the front edge you see in the pictures, smoothed it with 400 grit sand paper, and cleaned it out with compressed air. The true test will be tomorrow!

Next time, I will be a bit more liberal with my application of electrical tape. There's scratches all over it.

My 3 Stoeger guns are cut so far forward that I hit the mag tube threads. I'm not sure if that's necessary but it didn't ruin anything.

Dang spencer that second pic looks like michael j. foxx filed it. :P report back on how it runs
The scratches give it character.

It only had 1 hiccup today at the shotgun match. It locked back once when there was still 1 round left once. Other than that,it worked well

Loading it was easier than I thought it would be, so I'm not going to file it anymore.

Same here. If I go any farther with mine I would be hitting the tube. I may still take a little more off by rounding that front edge more on mine. And I am looking to modify the forend some to.

I took mine a lot further than that (versamax).

I also used a 4" angle grinder for 90% of it, so dont feel tto bad about the bubba action.

That's about how far forward I took mine, but I took my sides down way farther than that. I went down to the beveled edge on the sides.

Wow those are far forward. Time to get out the dremel... filing takes forever. I could take the right side down another 1/8" too
