Now, before you all think I'm an idiot, I know how to battle sight zero my AR irons, and I can sight in my deer rifle scope, even drift sights on my pistol. But, with this 3 Gun game, I'm out to sea on the best method/range to zero a 1-4 optic. Any help?

OK I spelled new wrong in title, went to KY public schools.

Most BDC's call for a 100 yard zero in the center dot/cross hair. I like to sight in my first BDC'S mark down at 300 then shoot the center aiming point at 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 250 to see where it hits. I'd rather be high 2-4" at 100 & 200 than off a little at 300. 300 is a pretty typical max distance for most matches.

I use the Ballistic AE app on my iPhone. It's only a close approximation though. I have never had one be exact. I always go shoot the actual distances such as 400, 500, 600 to comfirm where im hitting. I then compare to the program to where the bulleys ate actuall going to determine how much my bullet will drop at say 446 yards if the actial is 410 vs theorerical of 400. I then know if i need to favor the top or bittom of a target or hold in between bdc marks. The targets we shoot past 300 yards are usually big so knowing that the 3rd BDC mark is 407 yards is close enough to still hit the target. I hope that kinda makes sense.

Thanks for the answer. It's good to know that the program will at least get you close. Cheers!
