how best to hold a torch while shooting the dark house?

What is the best way to hold a flash light while shooting a dark house? Keep in mind the need to reload.

Attach it to the shotgun, that way wherever you are looking your. Gun is also pointing.

I forgot one important detail. I am shooting a pistol in a USPSA competition.

Shoot strong hand only with the light over or near your weak hand ear. That way you can illuminate your sights and the target.

I'm no expert as I have only done it a few times. Reloads suck. Weapon mounted lights are the way to go if possible but I don't think that's allowed in USPSA.

You could always fab up something like the Star Trek Beacon Flashlight. It was made from a pair of Sure Fire's and strapped to your forearm. If you strapped it to your strong hand forearm it would work and not get in the way.

The above is not what is provided to shooters at the SSC. It is a small flashlight. Two years ago when I shot the dark house I kept my two handed grip on the pistol and held the light with the fingers of my weak hand. I was wondering if any experienced shooters could comment on their technique. Because only one shooter is allowed in the dark house, one does not have the opportunity to see how other shooters are handling the light, and the few you tube videos I have watched don't lend themselves to easy intepretation.

Well if all they give you is a small flashlight than take along a velco cable strap that will fit around your wrist and the light. I didn't know you had to use thier light.

Jesse and chambers have the right idea. Hold the light between ring finger and pinky in order to do reloads.

most COF's require you to "HOLD" the flashlight so attaching it to anything would not be allowed. weak hand at the ear is the best method as stated before. this allow you to see your sights the best and most shoothouses have you engaging targets at no more than 8-10 yrds so strong hand only hold should not be a problem.
