I Just got thru with an " dealer " in Moncks Corner that I wanted everyone to be aware of.

The guy named Tony is a dealer in Moncks Corner. He had a post for an AR 15 pistol on Armslist. In the bottom of the small print in the ad it said : " $25.00 fee for NCIC Background Check" I did a double take on that one...New to me...

So...I had to call him on it. I sent him an Email about the pistol with a couple of questions and what was the $25.00 charge for.

He sent me an email back stating that you had to be a SC resident and that a background check had to be preformed...Or, you needed a CWP...

I repliaed : You sir, I know the laws...I want to know about the $25.00 fee for a background check.

He replied.: " There must be a background check preformed, or you must be a CWP holder...

Again I replied: Sir...I know all about that I have bought gun from almost every dealer in the area and noone charges a fee to sell you a gun...

His final answer..." That is my policy "

So, just watch who you are dealing with and those " Extra Charges "

Just looked at the dealers ad on Armslist again...

He took the $25.00 charge off the ad....Makes me wonder if he will tack it on later when he sells the piece...

Is he for really a dealer? I haven't been able to find anFFL in MC named Tony or Anthony or anything close.

A local pawn shop in Greenville had a sign on display that they charge a $25 deposit for the background check. They state that the $25 is applied to the price of the firearm, but if the transaction is denied the fee is non-refundable.
I haven't been there in couple of years, so I don't know if the sign is still posted.
