I'm getting all the parts for a 18" rifle gas system build and messed up by buying an M4 stock and buffer. Would I be correct in tha I need a rifle buffer and spring?
Lots of people get confused in thinking the buffer system has to match the gas system.I'm getting all the parts for a 18" rifle gas system build and messed up by buying an M4 stock and buffer. Would I be correct in tha I need a rifle buffer and spring?
You just can't mix parts within the system (like Spiff said), no rifle spring in a carbine buffer tube.....etc.
This hypothetical situation also only happens in the early to middle portion of a 1000+ rnd class. As a side note, some rifles will work with a rifle spring in a carbine tube with a carbine buffer, but it will be very difficult to pull the charging handle and will leave oneself scratching one's head about why the rifle is suddenly short stroking about 1 of every 100 rounds. This typically arises when one THINKS one ordered a carbine spring from Brownells. This may result in one blaming one's magazines until one SuperUncleKurt arrives clad in cape to properly diagnose the situation. If this is to happen, hopefully one SuperTonyWall is on hand to lend/give/sell one the correct spring.
Of course this is a hypothetical situation.
