I've always thought my grip was pretty good when using my BHP. But, recently, an instructor made the comment that my left thumb and right hand trigger finger extended along side the frame should end up side by side on either side of the weapon. (I'm right handed) However, when I do that, my left thumb ends up resting on the magazine slide stop and since I'm applying downward pressure to aid in recoil, I inadvertently lock the slide when it cycles. It's such a good place to put my thumb, but, obviously I'm doing something wrong. Any help here?

I had one for a while, and never had such an issue. But my grip was not developed at that time, and I probably oriented my thumbs like shooting a revolver.

Don't push your thumb against your gun. Your thumbs don't really even need to be touching your gun.

Really???? I know my groups are better when my trigger hand thumb is up rather than beside the pistol..........but have never heard that about the support thumb.

Dang it..........................here I am at 69 years young and I'm still learnin' things daily. Don't know if'n I'll live long enough to take it all in! :sarcastichand:

I'm having trouble with the fullness of my rubber grips. When I take them off and hold my Hi-Power it feels a lot better. Don't want to try and shoot it like that because there's nothing there but raw steel to hang onto. Is there really good set of thin grips available? I'm reading good things about Navidrex grips.
