I think I figured it out, but maybe yall could chime in:

In my XD SC, some of the magazines eject without much force, but others, I have to grab the barrel for extra torque to eject the mag. It is literally half and half: four mags are sticky, the other four are not. However, I've found that if a round isn't in the chamber, or if the mag isn't loaded to capacity, those that are sticky eject without issue.

This is a common problem with the XD series, go to XDtalk and search. The mag springs are stout and push the magazine down causing that hard release. I have had this experience with two XDS, one a regular XD, and an XDM.

Yup on a full mag with my 5.25 it is a hard release my xds isn't as hard but it still takes more effort than my pps did. They should loosen up over time and use. And yes they all fall out like a hot dog down a hallway when empty
