H4494 passed the House and Sentate... or should I say the Senate and the House... I saw it in an email from the NRA (yea, I know, I can see the slime dripping off my screen from it).

It's not what I was hoping for but it's a start. Maybe in 15 more years, SC will get "restaurant carry".

Too bad we can't wish the government away.If we could, then we wouldn't have to pass bills to gain the freedoms we never should have lost.

Anyway, here's what's headed to Nikki for her signature, then it will become "law", if she signs it:

Today, the South Carolina House concurred with the Senate version of House Bill 4494, sending this legislation to Governor Nikki Haley (R) for her expected signature. If enacted into law, H 4494 would benefit South Carolina residents in a number of important ways, including repeal of current state law requiring Federal Firearms License holders to be licensed with the state in order to sell handguns, elimination of the prohibition on selling certain handguns that do not meet the arbitrary 800 degree melting-point standard and conformity with federal law allowing sale of long guns in non-contiguous states. Enactment of this NRA- backed legislation will mark a significant advance for gun owners in South Carolina.

I'm tired of politicians voting for us on freedom we should have in the first place.

Yeah, I guess it doesn't surprise me that this is the only thing the thing the NRA seems to care about in SC. Thanks for nothing.

They should really change to NRAGRG.

To be fair, I don't think most residents of South Carolina -- including shooters, gun owners, and NRA members -- are particularly excited about reforms like open carry or restaurant carry. What NRA was able to achieve even with little to no support or awareness from voters was better than nothing.

The NRA has been successful in many states achieving positive gun related reform where it hasn't been popular (in addition to turning rights into privileges but that's another matter). What is it about SC that makes it different?

Why wouldn't the NRA support bills that enhance the rights of the people of SC even if they weren't popular? Since when did the NRA become a contestant in a popularity contest? The NRA ILA claims to be the biggest gun rights organization in the country, yet they didn't support a single bill that would make a difference in the day to day life of a member.

I would extremely disagree with that statement that SC gun owners don't care about open carry or restaurant carry or am I reading your post incorrectly...
All my CWP friends who do not drink alcohol take the restaurant carry personally the same with open carry.
I guess some of us are tired of having to conceal the exercise of our rights.

I'm with you. It's a shame the NRAGRG doesn't care about your rights.
