The US Government doesn't want US citizens to own guns and steadily takes steps to eradicate all gun ownership. This has been the course since 1934 and, while the speed changes, the direction of travel does not.

The good news is that Russian ammunition manufacturers makes ammo in other countries and uses various manufacturing names. The sucky thing is that IZHMASH makes outstanding rifles. I have an AK-103 and the gun is one of the finest AKs I've ever handled.
