So I sold the S&W and Im picking up a Gen 2 G17 tomorrow from a guy at work. What mods should I be looking at for a USPSA pistol? How much can I get away with and still be in production and at what point does it become a Limited gun? Sights, trigger job, magwell? Im still new to all this so your input is needed. I havent talked to Mike yet but Im sure thats where this pistol will be ending up for some AI magic.

Mike told me to keep mine stock (probably cuz he thought I would quit and want to sell it)and after I got very comfortable and hit a good point, to then look at any adjustments - Chris things the trigger would help during these times to help me learn to get better trigger pull down and both told me to leave to stock sights - first thing I'm going to do is get a skinny front post, followed by stippled grips and trigger work - but I might just leave this factory and buy a race gun to superfy!

someone posted these the other day http://www.ameriglo.net/catalog/sights/pistol-sights

prices are great, anything Mike does, he usually adds the labor in with the price of the parts as a bundle. He will take good care of you, if you let him.

Pretend this gun us 1" shorter.

i would be careful about how much you mod right now.. i would just shoot production for now to be sure this is the gun you want to mod, because you don't want to mod the gun then figure out you want a 34 or 35 or a different gun completely... just get a feel for the gun and competitions and talk to everyone about it to learn..

I didn't really think it was that big of a deal as i had it done righta way when i bought the gun and never reall practiced without it. I bought another G17 for the dresser drawer a few months back and practiced with it and i was amazed! I'd be happy to let you borrow it for a couple weeks to play with. I don't have any plans for production shooting for a few months.

I understand what you are saying but trigger, sights, and grip are mods Id do anyway regardless of what I was going to use the pistol for.

I knew you'd get the deal done, Brian. Congrats.

Everyone has some good advice but Benjamin's might be the best, first advice. SHOOT THAT THANG! Find out if everything works.

Sights are a good first step. Triggers are cheap.

That would be great.

Come one guys! Stock sux! and Mike needs to eat. Seriously for a gear queer like me if I don't change something to make it my own I can't stand to even hold the gun.

Thanks,

It will more than likely the end of the summer before I have it worked on. I just wanted to get some ideas going
